Henry Bain Sauce - A Kentucky Orignal

An overlooked Kentucky culinary gem is Henry Bain sauce . Mr. Henry Bain was a head waiter at the Pendennis Club in Louisville , KY. In 1881 , he developed a sauce for cooking with game animals . In that era the club members would bring their kill to the club and request it be prepared for a meal . This sauce is still served there to this day and is sold in some stores but the recipe can vary . In concept , the sauce uses a combination of tomato , vinegar, and other fruit ingredients .
